Roxana Hadadi New York Magazine/Vulture There are plenty of reasons to watch Last Samurai Standing on its own terms. Nov 17, 2025 Full Review Daniel Fienberg The Hollywood Reporter It might have taken until a key sword fight amid fireworks for me to fully invest in Last Samurai Standing on its own terms, rather than as a fusion of two buzzy shows I previously enjoyed, but I got there by the end. Nov 13, 2025 Full Review Rendy Jones RogerEbert.com It is is a fully realized and epic action series that seamlessly integrates some of the most intricate action filmmaking to be seen on television in years with a beating human heart that makes us care. Nov 13, 2025 Full Review Patrick St. Michel Japan Times Rather than copying, the series draws inspiration from anime’s distinctive traits. While parts may feel familiar, the show is ultimately charting new territory. Nov 24, 2025 Full Review Melissa Camacho Common Sense Media No doubt that those who enjoy period Japanese action shows will want to tune in, but lesser fans of the genre may appreciate the narrative if they can stomach the violence that comes with it. Rated: 4/5 Nov 20, 2025 Full Review Johnny Loftus Decider With furious fight action and a noble hero to follow through its pitched battle tension, Last Samurai Standing feels like a limited series well worth your time. Audience Member Imagine if Hunger Games wasn't boring and pretentious. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/30/25 Full Review laurent b I was dubious at first, as it starts a bit like a samouraï "Squid game"... but quickly turns into a much more interesting watch: definitely recommended not only for the fights, but the historical context, the politics plot, etc... A must watch! Can't wait for season 2, as it ends in a blast and major cliffhangers. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/28/25 Full Review Timothy G If I don't get a season 2 soon, whoever is in charge of renewing is going to get thrown in a death match of their own Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/28/25 Full Review Michael C Can't wait for season 2! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/25/25 Full Review B S After watching Shotgun, last year, I was blown away by it. This was something that caught me by surprise. The story is very good, the characters are good, especially the savage samurai villain. The lead is excellent. Unknowns to me are any of the actors, but the lead actor I know that I've seen him somewhere before.. Action. OMG. The swordplay and fight scenes are absolutely outstanding - so fast , violent and ferocious. The skill is astonishing to watch. For the action scenes alone , you have to see it.. it puts any sword wielding movies or tv shows to shame... I can't wait until Chapter 2.. Highly recommended Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/25/25 Full Review Benjamin S Fantastic show! Netflix, please please please give this another season!
