Critics Consensus

A promising directorial feature debut by Aziz Ansari, Good Fortune's socially-minded humor is given wings by Keanu Reeves' heavenly comedic timing.

Good Fortune...is a mildly subversive fable about the yearning for big-time success – and also the kind of medium-budget comedy that...nowadays only exists because someone like Ansari has enough TV clout to bring it into being.

Good Fortune is a cinephile’s comedy, patchworked from the likes of It’s a Wonderful Life (1946), Trading Places (1983), and Wings of Desire (1987). It’s more pleasant than it is funny.

Empire Magazine

An anti-capitalist fable that lets down its star power with an underdeveloped script. All of Good Fortune’s good intentions don’t make up for it being such a mediocre time at the movies.

When the comedy is on point, Good Fortune is divine. It just needed a bit more emphasis on laughs instead of lessons to be heavenly.

Algo Más Que Cine

A charming but uneven fable. Ansari blends fantasy, class critique and gentle comedy, though the script is overly literal. Keanu Reeves shines as a lovable, misguided angel, giving warmth to a debut that’s heartfelt, funny and flawed in equal measure.

The chemistry between the actors is a blessing that makes Good Fortune take flight and be as great as it is. It successfully balances fish-out-of-water humour, politically charged social commentary, and quiet contemplation. Recommended.

Slow and fun comedy that was a breath of fresh air. The viewpoints on the gig economy were spot on and relatable. Definitely something I would watch again.

Late on rating this movie but I really enjoyed it. I'm a big Keanu Reeves fan and he was excellent in this movie. Seth Rogen does a great job as well playing his character. Lots of laughs and heart warming. I loved it and definitely recommend!

Has the feel of trading places mixed with some freaky Friday. The humor is there and the context of today’s tough economic environment is well place. It was refreshing to see Keanu Reeves not on a murder revenge bloodbath tour. Aziz Ansari & Seth Rogen work well together and the cast came together perfectly. Good Fortune is a well put together film that won’t get the love it deserves.
