Every franchise needs to find a way to mix things up, and Trachtenberg has done it.

Delivering oddball comedy alongside Trachtenberg's frenetically staged action ... Badlands borrows from the Predator, Alien, Godzilla and Jurassic Park franchises, miraculously escaping feeling derivative.

Predator: Badlands only stumbles when Trachtenberg’s ambitions outstrip budget limitations and the script that too often relies on overused genre tropes rather than originating tropes of its own.

I surprisingly really enjoyed this movie. It had a lot of humor and I wasn’t expecting to laugh so much. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of dek and his new clan!
