There are lots of unique characters and little touches that make this movie so much fun.

This is a simple little film, but it kept me interested. I enjoyed the idea of ninja-like elves helping to make Santa's mission feel like some sort of top-secret military mission, and it's a visually appealing movie.

Arthur Christmas doesn't exactly break any boundaries, but it is coherent and consistent in its themes of inclusiveness and caring.

Arthur Christmas isn't going to end up a Christmas classic... But it's worth seeing this year. It has old-fashioned values with a modern mind-set.

Arthur Christmas' characters have plenty of personality and make the film a really fun watch. It's also short and sweet, with a number of action-packed set-pieces that will keep the younger folk among us occupied for its entirety

Aimed squarely at children, but painless to keep grown-ups from checking their watches.

It's disarming, imaginative and genuinely funny.

The script (co-written by debut feature director Sarah Smith) is fortified with meaning and smarts and plays well for both children and adults.

Arthur Christmas makes a welcome addition to the holiday movie line-up, because it's a movie that one can watch repeatedly without it becoming as stale as last year's fruitcake.

The comedy works. But there's not much to the characters that proves memorable. It's not a bad movie, but...
